Mr. John “Frank” Collett, a Crittenden resident, passed at his residence on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the age of 70. He was the husband of, and survived by, Janet Caldwell Collett.
On August 25, 1947, John was born in Jenson, KY to the late Billy Collett and Margaret Hony Collett. He joined the U.S. Army on April 3, 1965 and faithfully served in Vietnam. He was united in marriage on April 17, 1967 to the love of his life, Janet Ruth Caldwell. From this union, Frank and Janet had two sons, Johnny (Jennifer) Collett of Georgetown, KY, and Paul (Lynn) Collett of Tazewell, TN. He is also survived by two brothers, Rev. William (Louise) Collett of Dandridge, TN, Richard “Donnie” (Kay) Collett of Middlesboro, KY, one sister, Imojean Valentine of LaGrange, KY, five grandchildren, Joanna (Nate) Lauby, Rachel, Tanner, Jonathan, Jayley, and one great-grandchild, Annelise. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Martha (infant), Gilbert (infant), Marie Valentine, Rosalie Carnes, Bessie Anderson, and Shirley Hensley.
John was a truck driver for Driving Ambition of Cincinnati, OH. He was a former Pastor of Jordan Baptist Church in Sanders, KY and member, deacon and song -leader of the Stewartsville Baptist Church. He loved UK Basketball and southern gospel music, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Hamilton – Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, KY. Funeral services will be at 12:30pm and officiated by Pastor Bruce Harrison. Burial with military honors will be at the KY Veteran’s Cemetery, North in Williamstown, KY at 2:00pm. Memorials are suggested to the Stewartsville Baptist Church, 5380 Stewartsville Rd., Williamstown, KY 41097.
