Richard James Thompson

July 1, 1935 - February 17, 2018

Richard James Thompson was born July 1, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH and passed away February 17, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 82.  He was the son of the late Richard Berry and Mary Elizabeth Epperson Thompson.

On July 1, 2010 he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Baucum Thompson.  In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a son: Robert James Thompson of Covington; 2 daughters: Sonya Dunn (Mitch) of Wilmore and Christina Leigh Thompson of Dry Ridge; a brother: Russell Thompson (Peggy) of Dry Ridge; 2 sisters: Betty Eileen Herzog (Gary) of Covington and Doris Annetta Eibeck (Wendell) of Walton; 8 grandchildren: Tyler Dunn, Ethan Dunn, Austin Dunn, Travis Thompson, Jacklynn Grubbs, Virgil Caudill, Kelsey Nickells and Kennedy Nickells; and several step great-grandchildren.

Richard was a member of the Sherman Baptist Church and a retired truck driver for Roadway. He enjoyed spending time farming and loved travelling to the beach.

Funeral services will be 12:30 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, KY with Rev. Robert Tarasiak officiating.  Visitation will be 10:30-12:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North.
