Alta Bernice Ford

January 13, 1937 - December 21, 2017

Alta Bernice Hatter Ford was born January 13, 1937 in Liberty, Kentucky and passed away December 21, 2017 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 80.  She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Dottie Wilson Hatter.

On Oct. 5, 1968 Alta was united in marriage to Fred Harold Ford who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 2008.

Alta was a retired Customer Service Rep for Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals in Cincinnati.  She was a former member and president of the Grant Co. Homemakers and Grant Co. Garden Club.

Some of Alta's biggest joys in life came through her passion for gardening, especially her award winning roses.  She also enjoyed landscaping, painting and reading.  She dearly loved her family and friends and spending time with them.

Alta is survived by 2 sons: Curt Foley of Cincinnati and John Foley of Newport; a brother: Paul Hatter of Shelvbyville; 2 sisters: Martha Clark of Liberty and Becky Miller of Bradenton, FL; 2 grandchildren: Vince Mitchell and Joshua Schehr both of Dry Ridge; 3 stepsons: Jack Ford, Tom Ford and Jim Ford all of Northern Kentucky; 3 stepdaughters: Sheila, Sherry and Linda all of Northern Kentucky; and multiple step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Susan Schehr; 3 brothers: J.L. Hatter, Jake Hatter, and Buck Hatter; and 2 sisters: Lula Campbell and Ruth Bates.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 132 S. Main St., Crittenden, KY  41030.  Visitation will be from Noon - 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
