Franklin James Smith

August 14, 1945 - October 26, 2017

Franklin James Smith , 72, a resident of Dry Ridge, KY passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on August 14, 1945 in Braxton Co. (Copen) West Virginia; the son of the late William H. and Stella Jane Snyder Smith.  Mr. Smith was a welder by trade (retired).  In his early years he had a love for music and especially gospel music where he  enjoyed singing and playing in gospel groups.

He is survived by two sons: Franklin James Smith, Jr. and Jason Smith, both of Brooksville, KY; two brothers: Johny Smith of Copen, WV and Carl Smith of Dry Ridge; who was also Frank’s caregiver after he suffered a stroke several years ago., along with two sisters: Virginia Mets of Lost Creek, WV and Lorena Thomas of Crittenden, KY.

Frank was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph Lewis Smith, William H. Smith, Jr. and Leeroy Smith and two sisters: Agnes Marie Skinner and Irma Lee Smith.

In honor of Frank’s request, there will be no funeral services. The family will have a personal time of reflection in honoring Frank at a later date to be determined by the family.
