Billy Gene Hopper

Billy Gene Hopper of Verona, KY was born November 6, 1932 in Richmond, KY and died Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Florence, KY at the age of 84.

He was the son of the late Harry and Laura Belle Brim Hopper, a retired Office Engineer for the Corps of Engineers, and a US Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War. On June 1, 1957 he was united in marriage to his wife Laura Nan Chipman Hopper.

In addition to his wife Laura, also surviving is 1 son, Donald Stephens of Jacksonville, FL; 1 daughter, Cynthia Matney of Grundy, VA; 2 grandchildren Stephanie Wheawill of Midlothian, VA and Meredith Matney of Whitesburg, KY; and 2 great-grandchildren Charlie and Kate Wheawill both of Midlothian, VA.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona, KY followed by burial in the New Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 11:00am-1:00pm at the funeral home.
