Mrs. Mary Margaret Fortner of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Sunday, April 2 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. at the age of 92. Mrs. Fortner was born June 6, 1924 in Neave, Kentucky to the late Edward and Elizabeth Collier Cummins. Mrs. Fortner was a homemaker and a former cook for the Northern Kentucky Correctional Center in Crittenden, KY. Mrs. Fortner was a member of the Sherman Church of Christ. Mrs. Fortner enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Grant County Homemakers and the Bracken County Quilters. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fortner was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Fortner in 1968, by a daughter: Betty Margaret Fortner in 2004 and by a brother: Cecil Cummins.
Mrs. Fortner is survived by a daughter: Janice E. Stephens of Dry Ridge, KY., 2 sons: Harold Eugene Fortner of Florence, KY., Donald Michael Fortner of Dry Ridge, KY., a brother: Kenneth E. Cummins of Dry Ridge, KY., 4 sisters: Janet Colston of Decatur, GA., Garnett Hutchinson of Dry Ridge, KY., Sue Hopperton of Louisville, KY., Patricia McNay of Union, KY., 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, April 6 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home with Bro. Scotty Simpson officiating. Visitation will be there on Wednesday, April 5 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
