Stella Lorraine Briggs

April 1, 1933 - March 29, 2017

Stella Loraine Briggs, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in the arms of her daughter September Cardiff.

Stella was born in Pocatello, Idaho to the late Jesse and Stella Palmer. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a homemaker who loved life, family, gardening, and sewing.  She loved sharing her talents.

Stella left a trail of changed lives, in her early years she drove hours taking children and heading up to Youth Group. Those are many of the same youth she was so passionate about teaching sewing, gardening, and music.

In her later years, even though her mobility was taken, she started an outreach program where she sent out dozens of letters each month to people in her church community, to people who weren’t attending. These letters, packed full of inspiration and love, changed the lives of several families that became close friends.

Till the very end she held on to her passion of gardening, even when she could only get around in a wheelchair she insisted on having a raised garden and watering them herself. She was proud of her garden and loved talking about it.

She was preceded in death by husband David Briggs, son David Colbert, sister Marilyn Fifer, and brother RD Palmer.  Survivors include 4 of her children Kerry Colbert (Corinth, Kentucky), Lance Colbert (Williamstown, Kentucky), April Cheesman (Erlanger, Kentucky), and September Cardiff (Richmond Hill, Georgia), 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also Brothers Earl Palmer and Robert Palmer

The visitation will be 11:00 am - 1 pm on Friday, April 7th at the LDS Church located at 144 Buttermilk Pike, Lakeside Park, Kentucky, 41017.   The Funeral will immediately follow at the same location. Burial will be held at Floral Hills, Taylor Mill, Kentucky.

For her loved ones in Savannah, we will be holding a memorial service for her Saturday April 1st (her birthday) at 10 am at the LDS church located at 1200 King George Blvd, Savannah, GA. It will be held in the Relief Society room.
