Sylvia Ruth Howard Perkins was born in Canby, Kentucky in Owen County on January 4, 1925 and passed
away at her home in the Canby Community near Corinth, Kentucky on February 6, 2017 at the age of 92. She was the daughter of the late Gusta and Martha Howard Howard.
On July 26, 1941, Sylvia was united in marriage with Floyd L Perkins who preceded her in death on April 4, 1993 after 52 years of marriage. From this union, two children were born: Gary Perkins of Corinth and Linda Colson and her husband, Jesse Colson, Jr. of Corinth. In addition to her loving children, Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister: Norma Poe of Owenton; a brother: J. D. Howard of Hessler; four grandchildren: Rodney (Lori) Colson, Valerie (Scott) Prather, Heather House and Jeremy (Brittany) Perkins; nine great grandchildren: Jordan and Jared Prather, Hailey and Bradley House, Shelby and Sawyer Colson, Austin Burton, Dusty and Easton Perkins.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Hershel Howard, Horace Howard, Floyd Howard and Nobel Howard and her sisters: Eulah Howard, Rachel Howard, Hazel Howard, Helen Howard and Thelma Simpson.
A longtime member of the Corinth Christian Church where she sang in the choir, Mrs. Perkins was an active embroiderer and quilter and loved to do needlepoint. She formerly worked in the Corinth Ball Factory where she was a seamstress making ball uniforms. She later was a supervisor for Johnson Controls in Georgetown.
The funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Corinth Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY and from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Friday at the Church. Burial will follow in the Corinth IOOF Cemetery.
