Edward Spencer Scott III, resident of Dry Ridge and formerly of Verona, was born in Carrollton, Kentucky on September 17, 1923 and passed away at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood on March 2, 2012 at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Edward Spencer and Lillian Smith Scott.
On March 22, 1952 he was united in marriage with the former Mary Lee Seiler. From this union two daughters were born: Lee Ann Brooks who is married to David of Dry Ridge and Bethany Lynn Glenn who is married to Danny of Crittenden. In addition to his loving wife daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. Scott is survived by one sister, Mary Lynn Craig of Ghent, his granddaughter, Kristen Lee Glenn and many other relatives and friends.
Ed was a member of the Warsaw Christian Church. He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture where he was an APHIS Inspector. He served in the United States Air Force and later retired from the USAF Reserves after 20 years as a Master Sargent. He was the owner, breeder and exhibitor for Brookwood Boxers, Alzheimer Chairman of NARFE and on the Executive Board of Farmers Mutual Insurance. A graduate of the Carrollton High School, he was a 3 time star athlete playing basketball, football and baseball. He formerly was the treasurer for the Walton Christian Church and loved "Big Band" music.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Warsaw Christian Church.
