Mary Salmons Porter

December 30, 1912 - July 14, 2009

Mary Virginia Salmons Porter, of Verona, Kentucky, was born in Walton, Kentucky on December 30, 1912 and passed away at the Grant Manor Health and Rehab Center in Williamstown, Kentucky on July 14, 2009 at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Robert Simpson and Byrde Blackburn Salmons.

She was united in marriage with Robert Kenneth Porter. From this union one son, Robert E. Porter of Verona, KY and one daughter, Mildred P. Ferguson of Dry Ridge, KY were born. In addition to her loving children, Mrs. Porter is survived by five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Porter was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona where she formerly taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton - Verona Rd., Verona, KY, 41092. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Friday. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY. Memorials contributions are suggested to the New Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
