Andrew J. "Andy" Updike of Dry Ridge, Kentucky was born June 2, 1940, in Pendleton County, Kentucky. He passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his residence, at the age of 69.

Andy was the son of Leah McComas Updike Ryan of California, and the late Jefferson Hinson Updike. He was a retired employee of the Conrail Railroad, a retired Kenton County Road Department worker and he was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Veteran.Andy was united in marriage to Marta L. "Marty" Webster Updike on December 1, 1960.

In addition to his wife of 48 years and his mother, Andy is also survived by 2 sons, Michael J. Updike of Spokane, Washington, and Rodney Updike of Crittenden, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren, Amber Updike of Crittenden, Kentucky, and Melody and Jeff Updike both of Spokane, Washington; 7 sisters, Debbie Stone, Cheryl Clark, Betty Wall and Rosie Thraser, all of California, Anita Slaughter of Jonesville, Kentucky, Judy Behan of Peoria, Illinois, and Gloria Chandler of Owenton, Kentucky.

In addition to his father, Andy was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Steven Michael Updike.

Funeral services for Andy will be 11:00am, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, Kentucky, with burial in the Kentucky Veterans North Cemetery, Williamstown, Kentucky. Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
