R. D. Edwards of Cynthiana, KY was born on January 22, 1928 in Harrison Co., KY and died at Mayfair Manor in Lexington on December 27th at the age of 88. He was the widower of Odella Dunn Edwards , his wife of 53 years and the love of his life.  He was the son of the late Luther & Mary Elizabeth Herron Edwards .

R. D. retired as a track worker for Norfolk Southern Railway after 25 years of service and was also a farmer, avid gardener and pet lover. He is survived by a sister: Anna Wolfe of Cynthiana and a stepson: Gayle (Connie) Osborne of Newburgh, IN. In addition to his wife and parents, R.D. was preceded in death by a daughter: Deborah Sue Edwards , a step-son: Rodney Osborne, a brother: Raymond Edwards , two sisters: Ona Jenkins & Sylvia Jenkins.

Additional survivors include six step grandchildren: Leigh Ann (Rob) Reeves of Lexington,  Lisa Holland of Evansville, IN, Mary Lynn (Lorne) Smith of Nicholasville, Joy Osborne of Louisville, Mattie Osborne of Lexington and Clark (Elisabeth) Osborne of Evansville. Eight step greatgrandchildren also survive: Sarah Reeves, Elizabeth Smith, Daniel (Haylie) Reeves, Meredith Holland, Camille Holland, Erin Smith, Andrew Holland and Mattox Crutcher and a special daughter-in-law, Marilyn Osborne.  Special recognition and appreciation is given to two special friends/ neighbors: Herman & Shirley Hall of Cynthiana.

A private burial was held on December 30th at the Sadieville Cemetery in Sadieville, KY.  A Memorial Gathering is planned for Saturday, January 21st from 2 to 4pm at RD's home, 3880 KY HWY 36W, Cynthiana KY.  All friends and family are to come and bring any pictures and stories that you would like to share.
