Cecil Elmore Jackson, Sr.

October 5, 1929 - January 1, 2017

Cecil Elmore Jackson, Sr. of Dry Ridge, KY was born October 5, 1929 in Sparta, KY and died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Grant Center in Williamstown, KY at the age of 87.

He was the son of the late Alvie “A.J.” and Dollie Webster Jackson, he retired in 1998 from the Cincinnati Zoo as the Elephant Trainer, and he was a member of the Harvest Apostolic Church in Williamstown. On April 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Mae Strange Jackson. Cecil was preceded in death by a daughter Cecilia Mae Jackson Laws, and by several brothers and sisters.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, also surviving is 2 sons, Gilbert Wade (Becky) Jackson of Dry Ridge, and Cecil Elmore (Jamee) Jackson, Jr. of Corinth; 1 daughter, Rebecca Sue Jackson (Mark) McCracken of Williamstown; 7 granddaughters; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Burbert Jackson of Connersville, IN; and 3 sisters, Betty Riley of Jonesville, Lucy Souder of Sherman-Mt. Zion Community, and Rita Snow of the Sherman-Mt. Zion Community.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, KY followed by burial in the Jonesville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
