Gene Thompson Wynn was the son of Robert and Hazel Wynn and was born in New Columbus in Owen County, Kentucky on October 28, 1929.  He passed away at his home in Dry Ridge, Kentucky on December 29,  2016 at the age of 87.

Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Clemons Burgess Wynn; his sons: Robert Todd Wynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado and David Wynn of Lexington; his daughter: Rebecca Jolene Stamper of Lexington; his brother; Kenny Wynn of Dry Ridge; his stepdaughters: Tanda Louise Yates of Dry Ridge and Sally Jo McMain of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way.  Mr. Wynn was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Wingate Wynn in 1996.

A member of the Dry Ridge Baptist Church, Mr. Wynn was a Deacon for over 60 years.  He graduated from Bethany High School where he played basketball.  He served his community as a science and biology teacher for many years and later Principal for the Grant County High School.  He was a member of the Grant County Historical Society and was presently serving as Chairman of the Grant County Schools Memorial.  He was a member of the Grant County Retired Teachers Association and a former member of the Grant County Camp of Gideons International.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Dry Ridge Baptist Church.  Mr. Wynn will lie-in-state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097.  Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY.
