Gurney Clyde "Bud" Clancy, 85, of Crittenden, died Sept. 8 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood. He was retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Colonel. He was a former director with the Penobscot Valley United Way and former member of the Bangor Maine Chamber of Commerce and the Bangor Rotary Club. He was a 30 year member of the Mariaville Grange, a member of the Military Officers Association of America, a 32 degree Mason, member of the VFW, The KY. League of Property Owners, and a KY. Colonel. Bud is most remembered locally for his involvement with the Grant County Republican Party and his service for many years on the board of elections. Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Carter Clancy, 1 son: Michael S. (Wendy Dunbar) Clancy of Herman, Maine, 1 daughter: Deborah Clancy (Frank) Fletcher of Crittenden, KY., grandchildren: Joseph Daniel Clancy, Michael (Pamela Cunningham) White, Aaron D. (Carla) Walter, great grandchildren: Devon White, Aliya White, Brittany (Jonathan) Lowe, Morgan Walter, a great, great granddaughter: Rosemary Charlotte Lowe, 2 nephews: David (Suzanne) Jarman, Merlyn (Jeannie) Jarman. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sat. Sept. 17 at the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be there on Sat. 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to the local United Way. Committal services with full military honors will be 3:00 pm Friday, September 23 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY.
