Mr. Lynn Mitchell "Smoke" Carr of New Columbus passed away Friday, February 19 at home at the age of 91. Mr. Carr was born November 20, 1924 in Harrodsburg, KY. to the late Omar Carr and Edna Dean Carr. Mr. Carr was a lifelong farmer and retired auctioneer. He founded the Carr Realty and Auction Co. 62 years ago and worked in the business with his son and grandson. Mr. Carr enjoyed the farm life and raising tobacco and cattle and his family farm is now in it's fourth generation of the Carr family ownership. In his younger days Mr. Carr enjoyed fast pitch softball and dancing and is fondly remembered by his family for appreciating a good joke. He also enjoyed hunting for arrowheads on the farm to add to his collection. Mr. Carr was a true patriot and served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was proud to have served when called.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Prewitt Carr, by a daughter: Lynette Carr Starlin and by a son: Marty Carr.
Mr. Carr leaves to mourn his passing a son: Larry M. Carr of New Columbus, daughter in law: Diane Carr of Corinth, KY., 4 sisters: Rachel Sanders, Iris Hardin, Jeanie Dearinger all of Harrodsburg, KY. and Betty Johnson of Georgetown, KY., 6 grandchildren: Tim Wiggs, Larry Lynn (Sheila) Carr and Leann Carr (Billy) Brumley all of Corinth, KY., Ryan (Tara) Carr, Jason (Mindy) Carr and Megan Carr all of Ohio, 14 great grandchildren: Christian (Chad) Watt, Brandon (Paige) Hurley, Chelsea Fitterer, Devin Fitterer, Carrla Brumley, Cody Brumley, Olivia, Owen & Sophia Carr, Taylor Carr, Daniel Carr, Abby Sprinkles, Aiden Carr and Alex Smallwood, 4 great, great grandchildren: Emma Watt, Colton, Payton & Jackson Hurley.
Mr. Carr also leaves behind a very dear friend, Sue Smith and his faithful canine companion, Peanut.
Funeral services for Mr. Lynn Mitchell "Smoke" Carr will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 23 in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth with Rev. Gary Gross officiating. Visitation will be there on Monday, February 22 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County. Those serving as pallbearers are: Larry Lynn Carr, Billy, Carrla and Cody Brumley, Tony Epperson, Johnny Garnett and Rodney Colson.
Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the Carr Family in care of the funeral home.
