Alberta M. Caldwell, 86, of Crittenden, KY, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday November 2, 2025 at her residence. Born on June 25, 1939 in Crittenden, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Marion and Edith Roberta Flynn Caldwell.
For over 33 years she was known as the “Candy Lady” at the local IGA. She started out stocking shelves but quickly worked her way to being a grocery clerk. Because of her energetic personality and strong work ethics, she continued to fulfill her desire to work, after the closing of IGA, by working at Wal-Mart; it was there that one could find her selling anything from goldfish to guns or even mixing up a variety of paint colors in the housewares section. Being involved in many activities, such as Grant County Homemakers, Grant County Historical Society – Historic Sherman Tavern and Senior Day Trips at her church caused her to be endeared by everyone who knew her, but nothing brought her more satisfaction and fulfillment than her many years of teaching Sunday School at Crittenden Baptist Church. On August 22, 1948, she joined the church and was actively involved in the many ministries of the church.
She leaves to carry on her legacy to her daughter, Darla McClanahan of Crittenden; two sons: Daryl (Becky) Landrum of Dry Ridge, Dale Landrum of Crittenden; seven brothers: Jim Caldwell, Tom Caldwell, Don Caldwell, Jerry Caldwell, Tony Caldwell, Greg Caldwell, Jeff Caldwell and two sisters: Suzie Epperson and Laura Rodgers. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Steve Landrum, Eric Landrum, Leah Ahn, Kasey McClanahan, Kyle McClanahan, William Mitchell Landrum, along with nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are two brothers: Eddie Caldwell, Terry Caldwell and four sisters: Marilyn Adams, Carlene Livingood, Janet Rogers and Barbara Smith.
A Celebration of Alberta’s Life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Crittenden Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and go until the time of the funeral; Rev. Allen Livingood officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alberta’s memory to: Crittenden Baptist Church 215 Russell Dr. P.O. Box 132 Crittenden, KY 41030.
