Alice Marie Covey, 81, of Crittenden, KY, entered her eternal home on Sunday May 3, 2026 at her residence after a long battle with Alzheinmers. Born on August 17, 1944, in Grant County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Minnie Fornash Plunkett.
On December 2, 1968, she was united in marriage to Donald Ray Covey; he survives. Upon graduating from Grant County High School, she worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, where she conducted fingerprint-based background checks. Afterwards, she worked for Wright – Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. For many years, she dedicated herself to being a housewife and homemaker. In 1991, Alice retired from Grant Manor as the Social and Activities Director. As a member of Unity Baptist in Demossville, she was actively involved in the ministries of the church, such as teaching Sunday School and working in Vacation Bible School. She also was active with the American Cancer Society through the functions of Relay for Life.
Alice will long be remembered as the “Best Cook in the Whole Wide World” and baking sour dough bread that people would fight over, couple with all the many times she reached out with a caring and loving hearts to anyone that had any particular needs, earning the title of “Everybody’s Mom.”
She leaves a legacy of being sweet, caring and witty to her husband of 58 years, Donald R. Covey; two daughters: Mary Beth Geraci of Walton, Emili Marie (late Gary) Moreland of Latonia; one son, Timothy Wayne Covey of Georgetown; one brother, David (Donna) Plunkett of Crittenden; one sister, Louise Mason of Crittenden and a sister-n-law, Ruth Plunkett of Corinth. Also surviving are her two grandchildren: Nickolas Andes, Cherokee Kaytlynn-Rae Covey and one great-grandchild, Allison Ard, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ahsoka Moreland, a son-in-law, Gary Moreland, one sister, Christine Northcutt and a brother, Ervin Plunkett.
Visitation will be on Friday May 8, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Crittenden. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
