Barbara Jean Shannon

Jean Adams Shannon died Dec.17,2018 in Union City, Georgia.  She was born June 21, 1933 at Mason, Kentucky; the daughter of Clyde E. Adams and Tessa Patterson.

On Dec.21, 1951 she married Robert C. Shannon of Corinth, Kentucky.  As the wife of a minister, she served with her husband in churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Florida, California, and North Carolina.  She sang in church choirs for forty years.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, she became a kindergarten teacher.  She and her husband were missionaries behind the Iron Curtain for eight years.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, a son John Michael Shannon(Rosemary) of Union Kentucky, a daughter Beth Ann Carpenter (Stephen) of Fayetteville, Ga, a brother Dale Adams (Jane) of Mobile, Alabama, a sister Debi Robertson of Fairfield, Ohio, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Elliston Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, Kentucky.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with burial immediately following at the Williamstown Cemetery.
