Betty Mae Colson Ellis

Betty Mae Colson Ellis, 96, of the Keefer Community of Grant Co., KY, entered her eternal home on Tuesday October 7, 2025 at Boonespring Nursing and Rehab in Union. Betty was born on May 26, 1929 in Corinth, KY to the late Jasper and Dora Mae Blackburn Colson.

On February 21, 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Billy Thomas Ellis; he preceded her in death on December 21, 2020. Betty was the owner and operator of Betty’s Beauty Shop in Williamstown, which operated out of Hotel Donald, for 37 years. Over the years she was very active in her church, Antioch Church of Christ in Keefer; she taught Sunday School for over 40 years; she also taught in Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband of 75 years, Billy Thomas Ellis, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-n-law: Michael and Patricia Ellis, along with eight of her 11 siblings: Dola Green, T.J. Colson, Winford Colson, Amos Colson, Alverta Gifford, Juanita Bruce, Jackie Colson and Rita Colson 

She leaves to celebrate her wonderful, fulfilling life of 96 years, one son: Mickey (Sue) Ellis of Crittenden, KY; two sisters: Martha “Mousie” Bachman and Frances Simpson, both of Williamstown, KY; one brother: Harold “Pete” Colson of Corinth, KY, along with four grandchildren: Shella (Sam) Monds, Sonia (Tim) Thornton, Chris (Tonya) Ellis and Shane Ellis. Numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Family and friends may gather on Monday October 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth. Immediately following visitation, at 1:00 family and friends will proceed to Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery for graveside services. Rev. Howard Chipman will officiate.
