Bonnie Darlene Howard Woodyard

Mrs. Bonnie Darlene Woodyard of Owenton, KY left this world for her eternal home, at her residence, while surrounded by her family on Monday, February 9, 2026. Bonnie was born on December 7, 1943 in Owenton, KY to the late John Wilfred Howard and Zelma Irene Todd Turner. Bonnie graduated from Owen County High School at the age of 16. Shortly after, she eloped with the love of her life, Clyde Russell Woodyard, where they would build a life founded on their love for Jesus and for each other. This love would carry them through 57 years of marriage.

Bonnie was a retired school bus driver for the Owen County School System where she drove for 35 years. For many years Bonnie worked alongside her husband as they worked from sun-up to sun-down caring for their Dairy & Tobacco farm and raising their 5 children. Bonnie was the 2013 Owen County Mother of the Year. She was a member of Elk Lick Baptist Church where she devoted many years serving as the adult ladies Sunday School teacher and song leader. Bonnie was a lady of many talents. Her hands were never idle, as she always had a project underway, whether that be crocheting a prayer shawl, an afghan for a new baby, or sewing a new quilt for someone that she loved. Bonnie loved to sing for the Lord, and played multiple instruments. She had a great passion to instill this love for music in her grandchildren. Above all, Bonnie loved the Lord. Her greatest desire was to be a light for Him and to know that her children & grandchildren will one day join her in Heaven. She exhibited daily what it means to let others see Christ in you. Her children often refer to her as the perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clyde Russell Woodyard, and one sister, Sandi Lee White (Danny).

Bonnie is survived by two sons: Chris Woodyard (Marcia) of Frankfort, KY, Todd Woodyard (Tina) of Owenton, KY; three daughters, Angie Gaines (Harold) of Owenton, KY, Cindy Maddox (Greg) of Frankfort, KY, Tina Sandlin (Chris) of Burnside, KY and three: sister’s: Connie Prather ( Arvin) of Owenton, KY, Kaye Turner ( Frank) of Georgetown, KY and Teressa Cozine ( Brian) of Georgetown, KY. Bonnie was also blessed with 34 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2026 from 4:00pm-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM, February 14, 2026 in the chapel of McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth, KY, with Bro. Danny Duvall, Bro. Johnny Thomas, Bro. Darrell Treece, Bro. Everett Hawkins and Bro. Wes Henry officiating. Bro. Danny Duvall will be officiating at the graveside. Burial will be in the Souder Cemetery in Owen County, KY.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
