Brenda Kay Collins

Brenda Kay Dunn Collins was born on December 12, 1942. She died on September 6, 2026 at home in Williamstown, Ky. Her grandmother, Lula Dunn, was first in line to meet her in heaven,

Kay graduated from Grant County High School in 1959, as class valedictorian at the tender age of 16. After moving to Covington, she met, then married Bo in May of 1961 and soon welcomed their only child in 1962.

She started college at Northern Kentucky University and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Elementary Education. She spent the next 26 years as a kindergarten teacher at John G. Carlisle Elementary School in Covington. Along the way she earned a Masters as well as her Rank I. After she retired, she spent several years working with beginning teachers through NKU. She knew that education and a caring adult were the great equalizers, and she gave both to hundreds of children.

In retirement, she and Bo bought a farm and moved back to Grant County.

At her death, she belonged to Williamstown United Methodist Church, where she believed with all her heart that there is room at God’s table for everyone.

In addition to her husband, Charles “Bo” Collins, and daughter, Angela Collins (Walter McWhorter), she is survived by her grandchildren, Sam, Carly (Brandon) and Will, her great-grandchildren, Bo and Lula and countless others that she loved.

In her memory, plant some zinnias, feed the hummingbirds, read a book, look in the eyes of a child, hold someone’s hand who is hurting and, of course, drink a diet coke.

Visitation will be held at Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM with the funeral immediately following.
