Charles Russell Lawrence, 84, a Williamstown, KY resident, entered into his eternal rest on Saturday April 15, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Florence. Born Tuesday May 10, 1938 in Corinth, KY, he was the son of the late Willie Lucas and Christol Acree Lawrence.
On June 29, 1957, Charles was united in marriage to the former Betty Ruth Neal; she survives. He was a 1956 graduate of Grant County High School. In 1956 he starting working as a machinist for American Tool which later became White Consolidated Industries; he served in this capacity for 31 years, but his greatest passion was farming and tending the soil of his farm. He gained much enjoyment from working on farm equipment and antique cars but he had a special love for eating at Whippy Dip in Crittenden. However, he was a family man that truly loved being a dedicated husband, father and “Papa” or “Pops”. He was a member of Williamstown Christian Church.
Charles will be missed but forever remembered by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Lawrence; a son; Troy Lawrence of Dry Ridge; a daughter: Tena (Dennis) Webster of Dry Ridge; three brothers: Alonzo Lawrence of Elsmere, Willie (Wilda) Lawrence of Williamstown, Harry (Patty) Lawrence of Walton and two sisters: Joyce Elliott of Erlanger and Donna (Dean) Gudgel of Tuscon, AZ. Also surviving is a grandson: Jared (Chelsea) Webster of Dry Ridge, a granddaughter: Bethany Lawrence of Lexington and a great-granddaughter: Kimber Webster of Dry Ridge, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Saturday April 22, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. till 2 p.m.at Stanley Funeral Homes - Williamstown. Funeral services will begin at 2:00; burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are: Daryl Vannarsdall, Al Rich, Darrell Caldwell, Tony Beach, Kevin Faulks and Todd Henage. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers: Goodloe McMurtry, Emerson Rider, Billy Gene points, Ed Smain and Jared Webster.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charles’s memory to: Williamstown Christian Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
