Clara Steers Jones, 93, of Florence, KY, entered into her eternal home on Monday January 5, 2026 at Dominion Senior Living of Florence. Born on September 23, 1932 in Dry Ridge, she was the daughter of the late William Edgar and Mayme Hedges Steers.
On August 1, 1959 she was united in marriage to Tommy Jones, a union that lasted over 50 faithful years; he preceded her in death on May 8, 2010. Over the span of 44 years as an elementary school teacher for Troy City Schools in Troy, OH, Clara had a huge impact on the lives of countless number of children. She will long be remembered as a friend, counselor, mentor, guide and educator who made huge, long lasting impressions upon the lives of impressionable young lives. Their home in Troy served as a hub in their community where all the local children gathered, offering them a safe and welcoming haven. Her faith played an important role in her everyday life. She served as a Deacon at Dry Ridge Christian Church and was a member of the Grant County Retired Teachers Association and volunteered for Grant County Helping Hands.
Clara will be sadly missed but forever remembered by her sister, Elaine (late James) Thomas of Dry Ridge; nieces: Carolyn (Steve) Thompson of Dry Ridge, Jennifer (Andrew) Kaiser of Stanford, Jill (late Jim) Thomas of Dry Ridge, Mary Kay Jones of Danville, Heather (Ben) Ring of Nicholasville; nephews: Rick (Connie) Thomas of Erlanger, Scott (Donna) Lowe of Bowling Green, Todd (Fran) Lowe of Simpsonville, Jack (Julie) Jones of Danville and a very special friend, Harry Wayne Howe. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Thomas and two nephews: Jim Thomas and Jay Lowe.
Visitation will be Friday January 9, 2026 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2:00 at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Tommy.
