David Gardner Matthews, Jr., 24 , of Dry Ridge, KY died Thursday July 15, 2021 from injuries sustained in a tow truck accident on I-75 in Walton, KY. Born December 11, 1996 in Ocala, FL, he was the son of the David and Kimberly Marie Buckner Matthews, Sr. of Dry Ridge.
David was a Team Leader at Dana Industries in Dry Ridge. He was an avid Florida Gator fan, as well as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. As a pastime, he loved tinkering with cars and trucks and hanging out with his friends. He was a member of United Auto Worker (UAW) #3064.
He was a fun-spirited, all-around good, loving son that will be missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, he leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers: Gary Jackson, John Buckner; one sister: Melissa Matthews – all of Dry Ridge; his maternal grandparents: Dewey W. Buckner of Chillicothe, OH and Flora B. Johnson Buckner of Ocala, FL; paternal grandmother: Catherine Ann Gardner Matthews of Ocala, FL; five cousins: Dominic (Steve) Tribuani Skinner, Angelika Tribuani, Antonio Tribuani, Amanda Ansardi-Hamilton – all of Dry Ridge, Joshua Riggins of Tampa, FL, along with an aunt: Christina Marie Buckner of Dry Ridge; two nieces: McKenzie Buckner, Maddie Buckner and two nephews: Jacob Matthews and Elijah Matthews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Donald Ray Matthews.
Visitation will be Thursday July 22, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes (Williamstown location). Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 23 at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.
