Deborah Lee Norton, 59, of Avon, Indiana, passed away on October 25, 2026, in Avon. She was born on November 21, 1966, in Belleville, Illinois.
Deborah will be remembered as a devoted educator whose life was marked by kindness, faith, and a deep love for children. She earned her master’s degree from Kentucky Christian College and went on to serve as an elementary school teacher at Kingsway Christian School in Avon, as well as at several schools throughout Indiana. Teaching was not simply her profession, but a calling she embraced wholeheartedly. She loved being a teacher and helping children, and her care and encouragement touched many young lives.
Music brought Deborah great joy throughout her life. She loved music and shared her gift of singing at many area churches, offering comfort and inspiration to those who heard her. She also enjoyed simple, happy times with others, especially playing card games and spending time around the table in a spirited game of Euchre.
Above all, Deborah’s life was centered on caring for others. Her warmth, gentle spirit, and giving heart will be cherished by all who knew her. She grew up serving her community as a member of Deer Creek Christian Church in Park Forest, IL. She was most recently a dedicated member of Fairfax Church Church in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her mother, Margie (Jim) Livingood; her brother, Bill (Gretchen) Norton; her sisters, Marnie (Ben) Davis and Elizabeth Turnbull; nieces and nephews, Taylor (Jon) Chesky, Will (Sarah) Davis, Ryan (Rachel) Davis, Hannah (Noah) Nokes, Eleanor (Levon) Gothay, Jeffrey Norton, Parker Turnbull, Addison Turnbull and Vance Turnbull; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Allen Norton, and a nephew, Carter Norton. May her memory remain a blessing to her family and friends, and may they find comfort in the love she shared so freely.
