Donald Thomas Gibson, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Friday morning December 12, 2025 at Boonespring Nursing and Rehab in Union, KY. Born in Dry Ridge, KY, he was the son of the late Edwin Cartwright and Cora Mae Fulton Gibson.
Donnie and the former Laura Sue Spillman married December 15, 1956. Her passing on February 20, 2017 concluded a beautiful 60 year journey together. Their unwavering commitment was woven together with a genuine love for each other, coupled with their faith in the Lord, whom they were faithful in serving. After Laura’s passing the Dry Ridge McDonald’s Coffee Crew filled a huge void in his life, something he looked forward to every morning. His gentle spirit and warm personality caused him to be endeared by everyone that knew him.
Graduating in 1954, he was of the first graduating class of Grant Co. High School. After many years of service as a mechanic, he retired from Roadway Express, but he found much solace on his farm where he loved driving his tractor and putting up hay. He was a member of the Grant County Cattlemen’s Association and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Donnie will be fondly remembered by his son, Kevin “Hoot” (Kathy) Gibson of Dry Ridge and one brother, Michael (Georgia) Gibson of Big Flats, New York, along with special nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
