Maineville

Donald Ray Pennington, formerly of Somerset, KY, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in Maineville, Ohio, on December 3, 2025, at the age of 74 after a long illness. Born on June 20, 1951, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, to the late John Henry and Lucy Fergusson Pennington, Donald was a proud graduate of Grant County High School and dedicated his life to his family and community.

A lifelong tobacco and cattle farmer, Donald's work ethic shone through in every endeavor he pursued. For 38 years, he served as a truck driver with UPS, where his reliability and steadfast nature were valued by colleagues and clients alike. His commitment to hard work was matched only by his love for God and church community, as he was an active member of the Southern Heights Christian Church, where he formerly served on the leadership team. Additionally, Donald had the honor of being a former elder of the Sherman Church of Christ, reflecting his deep faith and dedication to service.

As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Donald served during the Vietnam War, embodying courage and dedication to his country. This experience shaped his character and contributed to the values he upheld throughout his life.

Donald relished quality time spent with his loved ones, including memorable moments playing cards and enjoying the outdoors. He found joy in golfing, fishing, and traveling, especially to Naples, Florida, where he cherished relaxing on the beach during the winter months. Donald’s adventurous spirit often took him on cruises, allowing him to explore new destinations and create lasting memories with family and friends.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Terri Hall Pennington; daughters Rachel Dawn (Barry) Neuberger and Angela Ware (Mark) Lawwill; brother Ricky Dale (Cherie) Pennington; and three sisters, Darlene Lindsay, Debbie Colson, and Jo Sharon Cain. He was a proud grandfather to Samson Neuberger, Heather Schweinzger, Stephanie Frazier, and Shelley Webster, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

Donald is preceded in death by his son, John Pennington; brother, Ellis Pennington; and sister, Joyce Ware. His legacy of love and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
