She graduated from Grant County High School in 1963 and just a few weeks later married the love of her life, the late Bruce Heller, on June 15, 1963 and they spent the next 59 years together. They raised 4 children: Rebecca (Todd) Layne of Nicholasville; the late Mark (Karen) Heller of Maysville; Philip (Christie) Heller of Newburg, IN; and Seth (Carmen) Heller of North Canton, OH. Dorothy loved her 14 Grandchildren: Mackenzie Blankenship, Devyn Allen, Savannah Lionberger, Jacob Heller, Lauren Heller, Elizabeth Heller, Carter Vankirk, Jenna Melloh, Cade Heller, Kendyll Heller, Ava Heller, Asher Heller, Zoe Heller and Sophie Heller; 8 great grandchildren: Marley Blankenship, Laney Blankenship, Summer Blankenship, Hudson Allen, Henry Heller, Madeline Heller, Eleanor Heller, and August Heller; and 1 more great grandchild on the way. She is survived by her sister Mary Lou (Bill) Sharpnack of Louisville.

In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her brother Donald Epperson of Williamstown.

Dorothy attended Cincinnati Bible College and was a great partner in ministry with Bruce as they served congregations at Fairview Christian Church (Williamstown), Grassy Creek Christian Church (Demossville), Milford Christian Church (Milford), Cedar Hill Christian Church (Louisville) Highland Christian Church (Maysville) Jessamine Christian Church (Nicholasville) East Fork Christian Church (Lewis Co.) and Augusta Christian Church (Augusta).
