Fern Lucille Whaley Thompson, of Williamstown, KY, entered her heavenly home three hours before her 94th birthday, at St. Elizabeth Medical Hospice Center. Born on June 24, 1931 in the Doughton Community of Pendleton County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Thomas and Lula Belle Porter Whaley.

She graduated from Morgan High School. On May 1, 1959, Lucille was united in marriage to Thomas Wesley Thompson; he preceded her in death. Having received her advanced training as a beautician, she worked most of her years at Stewart’s Department Store in Louisville.  Lucille had a special love for animals of all kinds but her greatest love was for her family, whom she loved so much. She was very active in her church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where over the years, she sang in the choir, active in Vacation Bible School and served as a Sunday School teacher.

She leaves to mourn her loss and celebrate her legacy, her nephews: G.T. (Linda) Whaley of Dry Ridge, KY, Marvin (Kay) Whaley of Williamstown, KY, Darrell (Edna) Whaley of Dry Ridge, KY; nieces: Rekenna (Jim) Rogers of Rochester, Minnesota, Celisa (Rodney) Edmondson of Williamstown, KY, along with several great-nieces and nephews, as well as several great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold (Mildred) Whaley, Emerson (Willena) Whaley; one sister: Ruth (Emerson) Simpson and a niece: Anna Lou (Gerald) Roland and most recently, a nephew: Ricky (Carol) Whaley.

Visitation will be Friday June 27, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Pastors Cameron Courtney and Jared Ebert officiating.

Burial will follow in Williamstown Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Thomas.
