Gary Cleveland Whaley, a Florence resident, passed away at his residence on December 1, 2025 at the age of 83. He was the husband of Karen Morris Whaley.
Gary was born on November 30, 1942 to the late Emmett Cleveland Whaley and Loretta Vice Whaley. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School. In 1966 he married Karen Lynn Morris whom survives. He joined the U.S. Army and was a driver for armored personnel carriers. Afterwards he became a barber before joining the team at UPS where he drove a truck and retired after 27 years of faithful service. Gary was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Burlington, KY. Gary enjoyed hunting and he loved taking trips to Florida to relax near the ocean. In recent years, Gary's time was consumed with playing and looking after his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his wife Karen, Gary is survived by one son, Michael C. Whaley, one sister, Donna Green, one granddaughter, Kira Whaley and three great grandchildren, Lucy Whaley, Jude Moses and Sonny Moses. Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Whaley and sister, Joyce French.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the KY Veteran's Cemetery, North in Williamstown, KY at 11am.
