Irene Crabtree Dupuy

Irene Crabtree Dupuy, a Crittenden resident, passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the age of 85.  She was the widow of the late Ancle Gordon "Buddy" Dupuy.  

Irene was born in McCreary Co, KY on June 2, 1940 to the late Charlie and Cora Jane Vanover Crabtree.  She married her husband Buddy on Oct. 21, 1960.  She was a retired hair dresser whom formerly worked for Dixons Beauty Shop and Money's Magic Mirror.  Irene loved sewing, making quilts, working in her yard, gardening, canning, babysitting and volunteering at the Vacation Bible Schools.  She was a lifelong member of the Violet Ridge Church of Christ.  She liked to watch and feed birds and squirrels.  Irene was known for her culinary arts where her family loved her fried catfish, homemade cornbread and her pineapple upside-down cake.  She had a passion for traveling and sightseeing the nation. She had traveled to most of the 50 states with her husband and family.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Irene is survived by her two sons, Robert (Tawnya) and Joe G. (Rhonda) Dupuy, one daughter, Janie (Gary L.) Ashcraft, one sister, Flo Anderson, five grandchildren, Garrett Ashcraft, Carlee Dupuy, Terra Lockaby, John Lockaby, Chase Taylor and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Buddy, Irene was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Earl, George, Jeff Crabtree, four sisters, Ann Hodge, Verdie Kidd, Elsie Vanover, Faye Soyck and grandson Coty Glass.  

Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 4-8pm at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Funeral services will be Monday, January 12 at 11am.  Rev. Tommy Simpson will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Crittenden Cemetery.
