Jeffrey Daniel Afterkirk

January 15, 1959 — January 11, 2026

Williamstown

Jeffrey Daniel Afterkirk was born January 15, 1959 in Covington, Kentucky and passed away January 11, 2026 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 66.  He was the son of the late Hugo and Frances Afterkirk.

Jeff was a 1977 graduate of Walton-Verona High School and went on to the Northern Kentucky University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology.  He went on to have a fulfilling career at Northern Kentucky Youth Center where he was a Superintendent.  After retiring from NKYC, he became a Family Counselor with Northkey.  When he wasn't working he was an 8th Region Basketball official with the KHSAA for over 30 years.  His fellow officials were like family and they had a very close brotherhood that he loved.

In his free time, Jeff loved playing golf and traveling with his wife.  He loved his pets and would take care of any animals that needed help.  Jeff loved all things chocolate, from cake to candy, but especially ice cream.  He also loved Miller Lite, but only if it was in the bottle.  While he had many hobbies and enjoyed some of the little things in life, his greatest passion was his family.  He dearly loved his wife and children, but nothing compared to being with his grandkids and watching them play sports.  Jeff had a contagious smile and didn't know a stranger.  He was known for his sarcasm in any situation.

On Oct. 31, 2020 he was united in marriage to Denise Marie Kinney-Afterkirk.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mike (Courtney) Afterkirk of Corinth, his daughter, Ashlee (Chris) Webster of Demossville, three brothers, David Afterkirk, Donnie (Iris) Afterkirk and Joe (Linda) Afterkirk, a sister, Debby Moberly, and five grandchildren, Hunter Webster, Michael Afterkirk, Harper Webster, Mason Afterkirk and Matthew Afterkirk.
