Jerry Allen Neal, 85, of Dry Ridge, KY, entered into his eternal home on Tuesday July 28, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care Center – Edgewood, KY. Born on July 19, 1941 in Dry Ridge, KY, he was the son of Vernal Neal but was raised by his mother Adelia Mildred Jump and step-father, Gerald Jump.
On July 21, 1959, he was married to the former Donna Sue Anderson; she preceded him in death on Tuesday June 9, 1998. After 35 years as an Over-the-Road truck driver, he retired from Carolina Freight. Upon his retirement from Carolina Freight, he became the owner and operator of RTI Trucking; he remained there until his “2nd” retirement. He enjoyed riding his Triumph motorcycle and dirt track racing, but his greatest passion was fixing up old cars and trucks and spending any spare time in his garage. His children fondly remember all the kids in the neighborhood being amazed at his uncanny ability to build, rebuild and restore anything automotive. In his later years, sitting on the porch admiring the beauty of the flowers, his daughter had planted, brought him much satisfaction. For 32 years, he was a member of Local 100 Teamster Union and was a member of the Williamstown Christian Church.
Terry passes on the impact of his life to his daughter, Joy Beth (Gary) Phipps of Crittenden; his son, Gregory Tyler (Lisa) Neal of Crittenden and his sister, Bonnie Jean (late Lloyd) Poor of Jeffersonville, IN, along with six grandchildren: Ashlee (Matt) Blaze, Brittany (Logan) Pressler, Morgan (Brandon) Smith, Logan Neal, Brett Neal, Madelynn (Michael) Gaiser and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called him “Papaw”. In addition to his wife, Donna Sue Neal, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Allen Neal; a sister, Judy Gail (late Homer) Anderson and a granddaughter, Amberlee Foley.
Visitation will be Friday July 31, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Crittenden. Funeral services will begin at 1:00; burial will follow in the Crittenden Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Donna.
