Joseph Edward "Mojo" Morris

Joseph Edward “Mojo” Morris, 91, Florence, KY, passed away on Friday August 7, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center - Florence. Born on February 9, 1939 in Demossville, KY, he as the son of the late James and Kathryne Wilson Morris.

On October 21, 1979, in Gatlinburg, TN, “Mojo”, as he was affectionately known and loved, was united in marriage to the former Patricia Ann Doll; after 34 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 3, 2013.  Stationed in Oakland, CA, on February 4, 1959, he was inducted into the United States Army, where he earned the rank of SP4 E-4 ; he proudly served his country in the Korean War. Over the years, he balanced a life of hard work on the road as a truck driver and developing deep family commitments. He will long be remembered as an avid U.K. fan, his love for NASCAR, camping, traveling the countryside in his RV, spending time with his drinking buddies at American Legion – Post 4 and being a founding member of the “Wall Rats” at the Florence Freedom Baseball Team.  In 2013, he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by then Gov. Stephen L. Brashear and was a member of Greenview Baptist Church.

Mojo’s legacy will be carried on by his four sons: Joseph Todd “Jody” (Sheli) Morris of Union, KY, Paul (Heather) Zorn of St. Louis, MO, Jerry (Tracy Prestopino) Zorn of Florence, KY, Scott Anthony (Jennifer) Morris of Lawrenceburg, IN and one daughter: Victoria (Marty) Hoober of Florence, KY, along with 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family, friends and neighbors. Preceding him in death are one brother, James Alan “Moose” Morris and his first wife, Bertha Mullikin Morris.

A Celebration of Mojo’s life will be held on Monday August 17, 2026 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home – Verona. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and go until the time of the funeral at 12:45 p.m. with Rev. Arnie Forman officiating. Inurnment will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – North in Williamstown, where full military honors will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mojo’s memory to the nearest chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals:
