Juanita McKenzie Kinman

January 31, 1937 — October 14, 2025

Covington

Juanita Lee McKenzie Kinman, a beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, departed this life on October 14, 2025, at her residence in Covington, Kentucky at the age of 88. She was the widow of the late Clayton Kinman.  Born on January 31, 1937, in Bowen, Kentucky, Juanita's journey through life was marked by a selfless devotion to her family, an unwavering love that shaped their lives and created a legacy of warmth and support.

Juanita grew up on a farm, where she fondly remembered the days spent watching tobacco being raised and enjoying the beauty of the Kentucky mountains. She often reminisced about her father's horse-drawn wagon, a treasured symbol of her childhood that embodied a simpler time filled with hard work and cherished memories.

For most of her life, Juanita dedicated herself to being a homemaker, pouring her love into her family. Those close to her describe her as the Rock of their lives, a fun-loving woman whose laughter resonated in every corner of their home. Her presence brought joy and comfort, and her spirit will be profoundly missed.

Juanita had a vibrant personality that shone through her passions and interests. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was the thrill of scratching off lottery tickets, engaging in her daily episodes of "Sit and Be Fit" while completing her yoga and workouts for over fifty years, or taking family camping trips and vacations to Florida. She was an avid fan of horse racing, the Cincinnati Reds, and UK basketball, always cheering passionately for her favorite teams.

Juanita's family remains to celebrate her extraordinary life. She is survived by her son, Wes Kinman; her brother, Jack (Phyllis) McKenzie; her sister, Joyce (Roy Ed "Hoot") Williams; and her beloved granddaughter, Angela Wheat. Each of them carries forward her love, values, and zest for life, ensuring that her spirit lives on in their hearts.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband, Clayton Kinman, who surely welcomed her with open arms; as well as her father, James Oscar McKenzie; her mother, Goldie White McKenzie; her daughter, Penny Schlinkert; and her three brothers, Ralph, Danny, and Jr. "June" McKenzie. They, too, have left an indelible mark on her life that she cherished to the very end.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eckler - McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, on October 27, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. Juanita’s life will be honored, and her family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love, just as she would have wanted.  Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Holbrook, KY.  Rev. Milkweed Wotier will be officiating services.

As we remember Juanita Lee McKenzie Kinman, we hold close the memories of her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering spirit. She will forever remain in our hearts, a shining beacon of love and devotion.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you bring your favorite scratch off ticket as a final farewell to her favorite hobby.
