Katharine Belew, 82, of Powell passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 4, 2025 at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 6, 1943 in Grant County, Kentucky to the late Willie and Frances (Wainscott) McCormick and later graduated from Williamstown High School in Williamstown, Kentucky. On August 5, 1961, she married the love of her life Maldon Eugene “Gene” Belew and together they shared almost 64 years of marriage.
A devoted and faithful member of the Dublin Baptist Church, Katharine was active in the visitation ministry with her husband with going to hospitals, homes and calling on the telephone. She also was a dedicated and loving wife and mother to her 3 sons, whom she loved taking care of.
Katharine enjoyed making crafts, macramé, sewing, gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed camping with her husband when younger.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Gene; sons, Shane (Liz) of Ostrander, Greg (Kathy) of Lewis Center, and Steve Belew of Pataskala; grandsons, Caleb (Heather) and Joshua (Ameya) Belew; brother, Darrell (Barb) McCormick of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Katharine was also preceded in death by her sisters Nellie Welsh and Dorothy Sue Trentkamp and her brothers Billy and Mike McCormick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 12 - 2 pm at the Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Road, Dublin, OH 43017, where services celebrating Katharine’s life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor J.D. Davis officiating. Additional calling hours will then be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 12 - 2 pm at the Stanley Funeral Home - Crittenden, 132 S. Main St., Crittenden, KY 41030, where services will follow at 2:00 pm. Rev. Howard Chipman will be officiating services. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery in Williamstown, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Katharine’s memory may be made to the Dublin Baptist Church Mission Fund, 7195 Coffman Road, Delaware, OH 43017 or Williamstown Baptist Church Building Fund, 214 N. Main Street, Williamstown, KY 41097 or The Gideons International.
