Lena Mae Skinner , 65, of Williamstown, KY, died Wednesday January 3, 2024 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Born on September, 13, 1958 in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Wanda Vivian Bowen Meece, Sr.
She was a 1976 graduate of Grant County High School. After a couple of years of dating the love of her life, James Franklin Skinner, on October 8, 1977, they were united in marriage; he survives. Raising her children and being a faithful and committed, wife, “Mom” and “Mawmaw” was her greatest calling in life. She was a former employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Dry Ridge, where she served as manager. In previous years she worked as a waitress and prep cook at Shoney’s in Dry Ridge. Among her favorites pastimes she enjoyed fishing, watching Hallmark Movies, playing Bingo, playing cards and “shake dice” at the casinos. She had an intense love for all animals, especially her cats and dogs. For over 30 years she was a member of Bethany Baptist Church; currently her church membership was held at Mt. Olivet Christ Church.
Leaving to carry on her deep and abiding love for family is her husband of 46 years, James Franklin Skinner, along with two sons: James C. (Tracy) Skinner of Owenton, Steven (Dominic) Skinner of Dry Ridge; two daughters: Karen Hurt of Crittenden, Jessica Jump of Dry Ridge and four brothers: Jr. (Gayle) Meece of Crittenden, Robin Meece, Dan Meece and Gene (Stacy) Meece. “Mawmaw” was so proud of her eight grandchildren: James “Munch” Skinner, Lilli Skinner, Rhianna Hurt, Katelyn Hurt, Hailey Jump, Hayden Jump, Hunter Jump, Ethan Skinner and her three great-grandchildren: Azriel Williams, Octavia Williams and Asher Prince. Also surviving are three special sister-n-laws: Debbie Skinner, Tammy Skinner and Darlene Skinner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Matthew Meece and Jim Meece.
Visitation will be held Monday January 8, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown. Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.
