Leonard Frank Prokopchak, SFC USA Retired. May 21, 1948 - February 4, 2026, passed with his daughters holding his hands in Lexington, KY.
Leonard was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas A. Prokopchak and his mother and father, Michael J. Prokopchak MAJ, USAF Retired and Edna M. Prokopchak. He is survived by his three children: Lesa M. (Scott) Prokopchak-Peters of Galveston, TX, Leonard E. (Kimberly) Prokopchak of Williamstown, KY, and Lori L. (Bill) Prokopchak-Hornsby of Lexington; three siblings: Michele E. Prokopchak COL, USMC Retired of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael E. Prokopchak of Harwood, MD, and Donna M. (Prokopchak) Flaherty of Littleton, CO; five grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great -great grandchild; and his friend and former spouse, Cheryl L. Prokopchak of Crittenden, KY.
Len was born in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in numerous states and countries during his lifetime. After graduating high school in Bethel Park, PA he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps, serving a combat tour in the Republic of South Vietnam. After serving 10 years in the U.S.M.C., he transferred into the U.S. Army serving 16 years with most of that time spent in Europe. He retired honorably as a Sargent First Class with numerous awards and medals earned during his 26 years of service. After his retirement he resided in Bethel Park, PA, Silver Spring, MD, and Lexington, KY.
Len had many hobbies throughout the years. Early in life he loved cars and working on them. He always enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was known to travel extensively. He also enjoyed visiting his friends in Lexington. He dearly loved his family and his three special companions, his dogs.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Mount Olivet Christian Church, 400 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097. Funeral services will also be 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Mount Olivet Christian Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown.
