Dry Ridge

Linda Gale Duncan Whaley, 83, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father while encircled by her family on Thursday, April 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of extraordinary love, grace, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born on September 21, 1942, in Tazewell, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ernest D. and Eula Gray Pressnel Duncan. On June 26, 1962, Linda was united in marriage to G. T. Whaley, the love of her life and devoted husband of 64 years, who survives. She graduated from Claiborne County High School in 1960. Throughout her life, Linda held many roles, but first and foremost, the work that brought her the greatest joy and deepest fulfillment was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Before dedicating herself fully to the family she cherished, Linda began her professional career in Cincinnati as secretary to Mr. Baldwin of the Baldwin Piano Company. She later spent four years in real estate, served as Secretary and Vice President of Term Finance, Secretary with F & W Investments, and eventually worked as an International Service Agent with DHL.She was beautiful, elegant, and every bit the definition of a lady, yet beneath that grace lived remarkable courage, quiet strength, and a heart so pure it changed everyone privileged enough to know her. Linda was the kind of woman who never welcomed a stranger without making them family before they left her table. Her home was her ministry, and her love was most often spoken through the meals she lovingly prepared, the details she remembered, and the way she made every person feel deeply known, wanted, and cherished. Her family was not simply part of her life, they were her life. She existed to love them, guide them, encourage them, and watch them grow. She was their fiercest cheerleader, their safest place, their greatest comfort, and the steady light around which their lives revolved. She saw the best in people, loved without condition, and taught those around her what true grace looked like by living it daily. To her family, Linda was more than wife, mother, and grandmother, she was their sun. The warm and constant center of their world. The one whose love made life brighter, safer, and more beautiful simply because she was in it.One of her favorite songs was “The Rose,” and those who knew her understand why, because like the song, Linda embodied enduring love, gentle strength, quiet beauty, and the kind of grace that leaves a mark long after one is gone. She leaves to carry on her legacy of love: her husband of 64 years, G. T. Whaley; one son, Gregory Thomas Whaley of Williamstown; two daughters, Sheila French of Falmouth and Gaila (Stuart) MacAdams of Williamstown; one sister, Penny (Durward) Drummond of Taswell, Tennessee; along with grandchildren: Michael Campbell, Amanda (Dan) Waletzko, Karra Eichelberger (Toby Mount), Kylie Eichelberger, Harrison Whaley, Peyton Ward (Megan), Chandler Whaley, Alexis Whaley, Glory MacAdams, Gabriella MacAdams, Gunner Ward (great grand), Stuart (Katelyn, Lacy, Lain) MacAdams, Chelsey (Nick, Wiley, Char’ Lee, Maggie) Hopperton, Gwen (Houston) Reed, Brynlee Waletzko (great grand), Lennon Waletzko (great grand). In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by seven siblings: James Duncan, Inez McMillian, Mossie Duncan, Eula Gray Duncan, Ernest Duncan Jr., Nora Bender, and Dora Poore. Graveside services will be held on June 13, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life in honor of Linda’s wishes, what she lovingly called her “FUNeral.” Ever mindful of the family and friends she adored, Linda requested that no black be worn, but instead that all gather in color, laughter, shared stories, and happiness in celebration of a life beautifully and fully lived. She lived surrounded by love, gave it freely to all who knew her, and wished to be remembered in that same spirit, encircled by joy, warmth, and the love she spent her life creating.
