Madeline Carol Thornton

Madeline Carol Thornton, 81, of Crittenden, KY, passed away Sunday June 15, 2025 at Villaspring of Erlanger. Born on December 4, 1943 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of the late George Philip and Evelyn May Hubner.

Madeline was married to Milbert Ival “Curly” Thornton; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. Being a committed housewife and homemaker brought her much contentment and fulfillment, but nothing was more enriching to her life than her precious grandchildren and great- grandchildren, whom lovingly called her “Mamaw”. She loved working in the garden cultivating her beautiful flowers. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Williamstown.

She leaves behind a son, Tim (Sonia) Thornton of Crittenden, KY; one daughter, Tammy (Dave) Schipper of Burlington, KY; one brother, George (Dorsey) Hubner of Florida, along with nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Greenwell and a sister, Norma.

Visitation will be Saturday June 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. till 12 Noon at the Crittenden location of Stanley Funeral Homes. Funeral services will begin at 12:00. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Crittenden Cemetery.
