Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Wood

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Wood of Florence, KY formerly of Williamstown, KY was born August 24, 1951, in Covington, KY and died Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Cincinnati, OH at the age of 74 years.

She was the daughter of the late Douglas Rufus and Mary June Juett Wood and was a retired teacher with the Huron Valley Correctional Institute in Ypsilanti, MI. She was a 1969 graduate of the Williamstown High School, a graduate of the Eastern Michigan University where she received her bachelor’s degree, and a former member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Kim Mefford (David Blaine) of Dry Ridge and Julie (John) Lacefield of Yulee, FL; four grandchildren, Ryan Kells, Nathan Mefford, Thomas Mefford, and Dylan Lacefield; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Krista) Wood of Paducah, KY and Stephen (Teresa) Wood of Williamstown; sister, Melissa (Dave) Schwiegeraht of Walton; and her significant other, Guy Arkenau of Verona.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Willliamstown, KY. Visitation will also be Tuesday 11:00am-1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Williamstown Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations have been requested to be made to Road to Recovery, American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. The Road to Recovery programs offers free rides to cancer patients for their treatments.
