Maxie Hampton Ely

Maxie Hampton Ely, a Georgetown, OH resident, passed away on June 4, 2026 at the age of 91.  She was the widow of the late Johnny Campbell and Ewing Ely.

Maxie was born on September 17, 1934 to the late John Hamilton and Lina Hamilton.  She was a retired cafeteria cook for Blackey Elementary School and Letcher Commonwealth School.  She was a member of the Dixon Memorial Church.  She loved gardening, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Maxie is survived by two sons, Larry (Dorothy) Campbell, Leslie (Nancy) Campbell, one daughter, Teresa (Gus) Winters, ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two pet dogs, Tank and Baby.  She was preceded in death by Baby Campbell, two daughters, Sherry Lee Jones, Lina Sue Campbell, one brother, David D. Hampton, three sisters, Hassie Brown, Gypsy Rowe and Carrie Eldridge.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 11am-1pm at the Eckler - McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, KY.  Funeral Services will be at 1pm.  Rev. Milkweed Wotier will be officiating services.  Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY.
