Pauline King

Pauline was born on April 16, 1934 in Harlan County, KY and passed away January 13, 2026 at home in Crittenden, KY surrounded by loved ones at the age of 91.

She was the beloved daughter of Gustava and Garfield Short of London, KY. She had been retired for many years from accounting and hospitality.

Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family and friends. She loved cooking for her family and Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. Her pastimes included attending NASCAR races as well as watching them on TV. She also enjoyed watching wrestling multiple days of the week.

Pauline is survived by her sister Ruth Neal of Speedwell, TN; her daughter, Lecreta (Mike) Thomas of Sulphur, KY; sons, Elbert (Vanessa) King of Williamstown, KY and Jim King of Crittenden, KY; Grandchildren, Monica Fryman, Rob King, Marcie Thomas, Mallory Thomas, Brittany King and Derrick King; great-grandchildren, Tori Ratliff, Rylie King, Isaac Gabbard, Avery King, Lyla King and Lanora King; and great great-grandchildren, Tatum, Charlotte, Waylon, and her namesake Wynonna Pauline Ratliff.

Pauline was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gustava and Garfield Short, Her husband Granvel Pearl King of Harlan County, KY, sister, Alberta Rigney of Speedwell, TN, and her infant son, Delbert King of Warren, OH.

Visitation will be 11:00AM-1:00PM on Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden, KY. Funeral services will also be at 1:00PM Friday, burial will follow in the King Family Cemetery in Crittenden, KY.
