Peggy Jean McClure Spillman, 77, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, KY. Born on January 24, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Harold Filson McClure and Omega Ashcraft McClure Osborne.
Peggy’s life was rooted in faith, family, and friendship. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved most. She cherished every moment she shared with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as family and friends. Peggy had a special gift for making others feel welcome and loved, and her home was often a gathering place filled with laughter, conversation, and treasured memories.
On August 20, 1967 Peggy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry Dale Spillman, who survives. Together they shared nearly 59 years of love, devotion, and partnership. In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by two daughters, JoAnne Brook Hutchinson (Rodney) of Dry Ridge and Betty “Gayle” Meece (Charles) of Dry Ridge; six grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Cory, George, Madison, and Harley; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, Colton, and Bradley.
Alongside her husband Larry, Peggy found great happiness in life on the farm. Whether tending to daily activities or enjoying the beauty of the countryside, the farm was more than a place to live - it was a place where family traditions were made, and hard work was valued, and life’s simple pleasures were enjoyed. Peggy found peace and happiness in the life she and Larry built together.
Peggy dedicated decades to the Grant County School District, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students, families, and fellow educators. She began her career as a teacher before becoming Principal of Dry Ridge Elementary School. Her passion for education and commitment to helping children succeed led her to serve in various supervisory and administrative roles throughout Grant County Schools until her retirement. Peggy was respected for her leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her community. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Wayne McClure and Larry Dale McClure, and by her beloved grandson, Dustin Charles Edward Meece.
Peggy will always be remembered for her kind heart, strong faith, and her devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she has touched, and in the family she loved so deeply. She will be missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
