Richard Foree

Richard L. Foree, 88, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2025. In May 2022, Richard was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma affecting the central nervous system. He received treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, until he succumbed to his illness. 

Born and raised in Williamstown, Kentucky, Richard earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in 1959. He proudly served three years in the U.S. Army and taught school in Grant County, Kentucky, for several years. 

In 1965, Richard began what would become a distinguished 25-year career with the U.S. Secret Service. His service culminated in his role as Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Field Office, where he was respected for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his responsibilities. 

Richard will be remembered not only for his dedication to the U.S. Secret Service but also for the devotion he showed to his family. His sharp mind, steady presence, and quiet strength were constant in the lives of those who loved him. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, and a proud stepfather. His lifelong passion for Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball brought him joy. 

Integrity, intelligence, and steadfast loyalty were among the many noble traits that defined Richard. Those fortunate enough to know him will carry his example with them always. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Marjorie “Pat” Foree, and his two stepchildren, Kellie Cowser and Derek Cowser, who cherished him deeply. 

Family and friends are invited to honor Richard’s life on Sunday, June 28, 2026. A formal celebration of life will be held at Noon at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY, followed by a luncheon at Jean La Beth Event Venue, from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend both events as the family gathers to remember a life lived with purpose, courage, and love.
