In Loving Memory of Richard Bryon Hutchins November 4, 1949 – July 10, 2025
Richard Bryon Hutchins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, laughter, and joy. Born on November 4, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Richard Hutchins and Elizabeth Mills Hutchins, Rick was the oldest of three boys and a natural leader, always looking out for others, always bringing people together.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey Kay Hutchins (née Spicer), and his brother, Greg Hutchins. He is survived by his children, Rich Hutchins (Lindsey) and Amber Hutchins Fugman (Mark); his cherished granddaughter, Sawyer; his brother, Philip Hutchins and many loving nieces and nephews. He is now reunited with his beloved Audrey and his brother Greg, together again in music, laughter, and peace.
Rick shared a deep and lasting bond with both of his brothers, filled with love, and lifelong memories. He carried Greg’s memory in his heart and deeply valued the closeness he maintained with Phil throughout his life.
Rick graduated from Hughes High School where he discovered a lifelong passion for music and performance. His powerful voice and natural stage presence would follow him throughout his life, most notably as a member of The Mystics, a local Cincinnati singing group that brought smiles and memories wherever they performed.
After high school, Rick served in the United States Army. He was deeply proud of his military service, and it remained a meaningful part of his identity throughout his life.
While serving in the Army and singing with The Mystics, Rick met the love of his life, Audrey Kay Spicer. Their connection was immediate, sparked by shared laughter, mutual admiration and a deep appreciation for art and music. Together, they began a love story that would span decades and leave an indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to witness it.
Rick and Audrey built a beautiful life together, grounded in joy, humor, and devotion. Audrey introduced him to tennis, which became one of their favorite shared pastimes, and stood beside him through every season of life.
After eight years of enjoying life as a couple, Rick and Audrey were blessed with their two children, Richard Louis Hutchins and Amber Elizabeth Fugman (née Hutchins). Both children attended The Seven Hills School, where Audrey was a beloved art teacher, and where the Hutchins family became a well-loved part of the school community.
Being a father was Rick’s greatest honor and joy. He was immensely proud of his children, not just for what they accomplished, but for who they are. He was present, supportive, and endlessly loving, always their biggest champion.
Professionally, Rick was driven, respected, and proud of the work he did. He spent many years with Digital Analog Design, where he rose to the role of Vice President of Sales. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
But Rick was never defined by titles, he was defined by how fully he lived. He was magnetic, full of laughter, music, and mischief. Whether telling a story or making a stranger feel like an old friend, he had an unmatched gift for connection. He found joy in good music, good wine and the thrill of a good drive. His 1984 Porsche 911 Targa was one of his greatest pleasures. With the top down, and open road, Rich was in his element.
Later in life, he discovered one of life’s sweetest roles: Pop Pop. His granddaughter, Sawyer Audrey Hutchins, was the light of his life. He adored her completely and cherished every moment they shared.
Though Rick’s song has ended, the melody carries on. In every story retold, every note sung, and every heart he touched. He will be remembered for his energy, his kindness, and the immense love he gave to everyone he met.
