Ruben Jay Perkins

Ruben Jay Perkins, 83, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Thursday June 16, 2022 at his residence.  Born Sunday June 4, 1939 in Owen Co., KY, he was the son of the late Ruben Salem and Lily Mae Romans Perkins.

On December 5, 1959 at Canby Tabernacle in Owen County, Ruben was united in marriage to the former Norma Jean Suttles; she survives. He worked as a sub-assembler for General Motors Truck and Bus Assembly in Norwood, OH; when the company moved to Fort Wayne, IN, he moved with them, where he retired.  He was a member of the NRA; he loved fishing, hunting and target practicing.  He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Norma; one son Barry (Melissa) Perkins of Falmouth; three daughters: Penny Perkins of Williamstown, Daphne Perkins Hardin of Dry Ridge and Lisa Perkins of Sparta.  Ten grandchildren also survive: Angela Johnson, Jessica Barnes, Tiffany Garrett, Clarence Robert De-Merle, Nicholas Perkins, Heather Evans, Shane Perkins, Kody Perkins, Christina Stephenson and Ralston Perkins, along with 12 great-grandchildren: Troy Clemons, Andrew Smith, Savannah Johnson, De-Angelo Johnson, Elisha Jenkins, Dameion Jenkins, Makiren Jenkins, Hunter Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Isaiah Perkins, Ibby Perkins and Isabella Perkins, with one great-great-grandchild:  Marilyn Henderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half- brother: Richard Rogers.

Visitation will be Wednesday June 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Homes in Dry Ridge.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Revs. Willie Ailstock and Tom Knipfer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
