Virginia Nix

Amanda “Virginia” Nix, 93, of Owenton, KY, moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday February 3, 2026 from the Grant Center in Williamstown. Born on April 29, 1932 in Grant County, KY; she was the daughter of the late Solomon King and Mary Elizabeth Elliott Brown.

On July 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Nix; he preceded her in death on November 25, 2010. She was a graduate of Dry Ridge High School. Virginia loved farming alongside her husband and will be long remembered for the many meals she cooked for the hired hands on the farm. She was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family; she set a wonderful example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that has led them throughout their lives. For many years she taught Sunday School and was church treasurer at Bethany Baptist Church. In recent years she faithfully attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Sweet Owen.

She leaves to carry on her legacy her three sons: Bobby Nix of Alexandria, KY, Daniel Nix of Owenton, KY and Bruce Nix of Richmond, KY. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Thomas. She was the last of her siblings, and was preceded in death by all her brothers and sister: Buford Brown, Herman Brown, Raymond Brown, Donald Brown and Dorothy McClanahan.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kelly Folts, Sarah Jones, Jeremy Nix, Kelston Thomas, Tyler Nix, Nicholas Thomas and Jo Anne Thomas, along with 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her “Mamaw” of “Grandma”. 

Visitation will be Thursday February 12, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes, Williamstown and go until the time of the funeral at 1:00

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in the Needmore Community. A gathering of family and friends will take place after the interment at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
