Walter Charles Halaszyn was born March 12, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away peacefully at his residence in Independence, Kentucky on October 7, 2025 at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Walter Stefan and Virginia Beaucolitz Halaszyn.
Walter is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Ward Halaszyn; his son, James Ashcraft, of Independence; his daughter, Elizabeth Bramley (John), of Crittenden; seven grandchildren: David Smith (Brianna), Tiffany Smith, Stefanie Fernandez, Bradley Ashcraft, Emily Ashcraft, Morgan Ashcraft, Autumn Ashcraft and Daniel Jacob Ashcraft; and 4 great grandchildren: Eli Smith, Harper Smith, Axel Ashcraft and Curtis Ashcraft.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Halaszyn, and a sister, Cathy Ramundo.
Walter was a retired cook, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and member of the St. Terese Catholic Church. In his free time, Walter enjoyed gardening and taking care of his beloved dogs, Coco, Jed, Toby Keith and Aarow. He got his greatest enjoyment from spending time with and taking care of his wife.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday, October 13, 2025 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 132 S. Main St., Crittenden, KY 41030. Funeral services will also be Monday, October 13, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden. Burial with military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown.
